The next season of sentai is going to be the 49th team but overall, in the history of sentai, will be on the 50th year of the franchise as a whole.

This season's plot and theme is based on being the best of the best. The number one of all things. Including the number one sentai.

The gimmick this year is the Sentai Rings. Rings representative of each season of sentai, depicting the red of that group, plus their representative mech, an example given is Kuwagata Ohger and God Kuwagata.

Along with this will be special versions of the rings depicting the whole(?) team as well. I say that questionably, because in the image of the full team ring showing boomboonger, Boon Violet is left out. It seems weird but I have a prediction that I’ll go into near the end.

Next we go over the team we'll be getting accustomed to this year, the Gozyugers.

Gozyu Wolf sounds like a traditional yanki, delinquent type of character. Abrasive, kinda rude, and rough around the edges but a heart of gold underneath.

I could see people try to say that this character is like them trying to remake Captain Marvelous, a rough and brash red of an anniversary season. But I'm not one to claim two things are too alike unless given enough evidence. Plus i'm a firm believer of "Nothing under the sun" but we shall see. As of now, I like the sound of Gozyu Wolf. Most of the reds and leads of the reiwa era has been pretty approachable personality wise, so it's a good change of pace.

Plus uh more wolf yaoi opportunities am i right?!

Gozyu Leon sounds pretty bog standard for a blue. Cool, calm and kind. The whole 'kind to everyone, regardless of gender' is funny to me. I immediately thought [insert wow he's bi didn't know that ]

This would be all I'd have to say on Gozyu Leon but a thought came into my mind. To illustrate, here are two pictures...

This is Radlo. Or at least an old design of him. My mascot character of sorts. I'm thinking of redesigning him but here's what he looks like.

Here's Y'fehn. My WoL (Warrior of Light/ player character) in Final Fantasy 14. I made him way back when (2020) and I thought I'd change races when I felt like it. Many expansions later, I've grown so attached to this guy that I'd consider him a secondary mascot as well.

See what i'm getting at?

Gozyu Leon is based on a lion.

He's also blue.

And the two mascot characters I attribute to myself are cat boys...

who have blue in their designs...

since blue is my favorite color.

What I'm saying is if Gozyu Leon hits all the right spots, I'm gonna have another blue cat boy to add to the collection.

Which isn't a lot cause blue cat boys aren't in abundance in sentai. The only one coming to my mind is Retsu (Geki Blue) as im watching Gekiranger for the first time and i've grown a little endeared to him. So yeah we shall see. If you look at any of my other SNS and I have a Gozyu Leon profile pic, you know what happened to me. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Gozyu Tyranno is our yellow and he sounds fun. Sounds like a guy who could fall for obvious scams from people , get into trouble, and just punch his way out of it, as they claim he has 'incredible physical prowess.' I'm curious what this means, but I'll go into a little more detail in the next segment.

Gozyu Eagle is interesting. Another translation called him a playboy. But due to finding those being posted on reddit and twitter alike, those possibly might have used machine translation. For now, I'll trust this one for now.
Gozyu Eagle sounds like the others Gozyugers would think is not much of a competitor, but then surprises them with his abilities. Gets things done with a little trickery mayhaps? Anyway we'll see how he is in the show proper as I don't really have much to say about him in particular.

And, but definitely not least, Gozyu Unicorn, is our first female black senshi in the franchise ever. She's also the only female senshi on the team for the fifth season in a row. This has been a major talking point since most people (me included) think that having 2 girls on the team is the best outcome. From what i know from general repetition in the western toku fandom i frequent, this is because sentai has a better (or more favored?) writing of its women in its seasons compared to Kamen Rider since at least for the most part a woman has been on the team since the beginning and more frequently. Plus having more than one woman helps for the young girls who won't have to just rely on one girl to see themselves in.
But besides that, Gozyu Unicorn sounds like a cool girl. Cool girl who cares for her family. Cool girl who will crush the competition. Cool girl who will be number 1.

Next we go to the Transformation Device and Mechs!!

The Tega Sword is the changer, main weapon, and mech for the season.

Which is wild. I don't think we've had a changer that's also the main weapon and the giant robo.

Also a SINGLE Robo with 5 different forms.

I think I saw someone say that it was 5 individual robos, (which it could be, there are 5 separate Tega Swords) but on the off chance there is a misunderstanding with the wording, It might just be one robo per fight. One Gozyuger finishes off the monster at the end. Really adds to the competition aspect. Like whoever finished the monster on the ground, gets the ability to go into their robo and finish it off in the end. Who knows.

Next up the Monster Group that the Gozyugers will be up against.

This group of monsters will inherit the powers of previous reds from past seasons. Kinda just like Donbrothers. Except you know, it's outright stated this time.

I'm excited to see how these monsters look. And the idea of each monster of the week being based on the seasons of sentai. Especially on the 50th anniversary with at least 50 teams. (or 49 if you don't count Gozyugers. or 48 if you put lupat as the same team.) Perfect for the 4X to 50 episode season length.

And last but not least the people working on this season.

For the writer of this season we have Akiko Inoue, daughter of Toshiki Inoue. She wrote a few episodes of Gotchard and I loved Gothard as a whole so I'm excited to see what she cooks up.

For our main director Ryuta Tasaki who worked on Kiramager, Zenkaiger, and Donbrothers. I loved these seasons a lot, Donbrothers being one of my favorite seasons as well as Zenkaiger. These seasons were very fun so let's hope the same could be said for Gozyuger. The music will be done by Kan Sawada, who is credited to be the composer on a drama called Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon! which looks like an interesting medical drama. Outside of that, further research, or the little I was able to find, this might be his first time working on a toku show so I'm interested to hear how that will sound.

Hirofumi Fukuzawa is the action director, who has been a suit actor for many years in the franchise (GokaiRed, Go-On Red, Shinken Red. and more.) I haven't been able to get into the behind the scenes aspect of toku when it comes to suit actors in specific, but i do know how hard they work and that they do have a great understanding of how to make an action show pop, so i'm confident a man with as much experience will do great.

As I was working on this page, the official Gozyuger twitter account posted a teaser image of the cast who'll play the Gozyugers. The clothing has a very fantastical element to it. Makes me think this setting will be somewhat not on earth perhaps. Or they're just a bunch of weirdos. That'd be nice too.

Another thing that was said, but through potentially mistranslated or rumors, is that the team might have superpowers in their civilian forms. Gozyu Wolf has enhanced smell, Gozyu Leon has super hearing, Gozyu Tyranno has super strength, Gozyu Eagle has super speed, and Gozyu Unicorn has telepathy. As I was saying before, with Tyranno, talking about his "incredible physical prowess." Does this mean the power is rumors or true? And if so does the "incredible physical prowess" just in reference to his super strength or does this mean the character is like.. you know... muscular... I'm just wondering. I'm just worried about the important things here ya' know. Gotta be forewarned before we are exposed to beautiful muscles and all.

Lastly, on the topic of Gozyugers, one rumor that came about is the possibility of a sixth Gozyuger based on a bear from what I hear. Possibly being gold and many hope they end up being a woman being the first woman sixth senshi (you know not paired with a man that is.) This is also where I bring up my prediction that for the sentai rings (and more sales) there will be a small line of Sixth/Extra senshi rings and that maybe they might incorporate an aspect in which the M.O.T.W. end up also having powers of sixth. It sounds a little messy with how they could do it in theory, especially since the first batch of monsters before the sixth’s debut will probably be the more recent seasons, who all have a sixth/extra ranger in them, but I could see them try in some way. Or just realise the rings as non-canon items for collectors sake. That too…

Along with this anniversary season is plenty of projects all year long. I'm cautiously excited for this. (And looking forward to see how they can make money off this occasion.)

Well that’s all i have to say for now i think. On the 26th of January will be getting the live press conference or the live video trailer promo event, like Kamen Rider Gavv did. And since it’s on a Sunday for me, I’ll be able to watch it with no chance of being away from my PC and will be able to watch it with help from my VPN, so that’s nice and wonderful. I probably won’t make another post until maybe half way through the show (if I like it that is) so then I'll come back and possibly gush about it then.
