MAKEMATE Episode 1 Notes

We start with an introduction too the show. The C mates (or judges) and also the concept of the program.

At first I thought that it was gonna start like most idol survival shows, you know introduce the teams (or group of trainees) and then do a performance for evaluation. But instead they ultimately just do intros for the trainees, at least the ones they show in the edit, and save the performance evaluation for the packages they show before the final on stage performance. And so with that let's start with just that.

Each team in the "auditions" have a board. On this board they write down a keyword that describes them. It could be a talent, and achievement or something important to them.

Jeon Junpyo

“shoutout from RIIZE” Junpyo this down as he was put on RIIZE’s official Instagram account for a dance cover of Siren that he did.

Shin WonCheon

put “number one in Seoul” for winning 1st place in both individual and group Judo competitions. He also placed 1st in 3 national competitions for swimming.

Jo MinJae

“Six Singers” His father was in a group called Cho Trio, consisting of his father, the eldest, and his younger brothers. His aunt was a singer under the stage name Hey, and her younger sister is the singer “Soy” and her cousin is Paul Kim. Altogether “Six Singer” in his family.

Bing Fan

“A K-drama fan” Bing is a fan of k-pop and k-dramas and used both to learn Korean.

Midori

“35 million views” On a Tiktok he got over 35 million views for his dancing and also his striking visuals.

Jang Hyunjun

– “The MV of the Main song” He’s the main vocal of the theme song of Make Mate 1.

Jung Hyunjun

- “15” He’s 15 years old and the youngest boy on the show.

Miraku

“Aloha” He put down Aloha, or AROHA rather because thanks to his mom and older sister are fans of Astro. They said he should dance to their songs, and upon learning and watching their videos, also became a fan.

Kim Sion

“Flexibility” He was born with short muscles and tendons, but over the years he practiced to become more flexible.

Jung Jaeyoung

“The genius dancer of 200 songs.” Being in a kpop dance crew, he’s learned the choreo for 200 songs.

Ki Hyeong Jun

“Yeosu gat boy” – Hyeongjun is known as the awkward boy on the show.

Han Yuseop

“Was in a band” Just as it says on the tin, he was on the guitar. He then perfoms Get a Guitar by RIIZE.

Yuseop was a contestant on Boys Planet. His final rank being #85 and is good friends with Park Gunwook of ZeroBaseOne.

Yun Deokseo

“Scuba Diving” In addition to scuba diving, Deokseo have a rescue certification to save lives.

Kim Hakseong

His keyword was covered by a sticky note,

but once revealed, the keyword says “defected from the North”. He defected in 2017, and when he came to South Korea he was worried about how he would adjust.

Upon watching TV while learning to adjust, he saw Idols and thought they were cool. That’s when he started dreaming of being an idol.

With the keywords and intros that we are shown out of the way, we move on to the first performances for the show.

Team Be Mine on evaultion from the judges, seem like they couldn’t keep up with the charismatic nature and overall style of the song. The Message of th song is not coming arcoss from them and the performance wasn’t as appealing.

One of the critisims they work on is their experession.
