ZeroBaseOne As Kamen Riders

So normally in the k-pop fandom, and arguably in others in general, you’ll see posts that are fun little imaginings or memes that are X as Y for many different things. Individual group members as cakes, groups as different interior designs, etc. Most if not all of these, ultimately, don’t really mean anything of real importance. And that’s what I’m doing today. In which I match a ZeroBaseOne member with a Kamen Rider that I think matches them the best.

I’ll also go over the styling of each rider and their respective member to see how well that would fare.

For starters, obviously, this is for fun. Most might not match up as well as others (or maybe none at all) so please bear in mind that please.

Also remember, you can click on the images to get at better look if need be!

So let’s start!

Hanbin = Kamen Rider Kuuga

So this one felt VERY easy to choose, but out of all of the Riders who is the most beloved, and heralded as iconic is ultimately, Kuuga. I haven’t watched Kuuga yet but from most people who've seen it, the love and admiration for Godai Yusuke as a character that many people have feels similar to how people feel about Hanbin. The other members, and even many people outside of the group, from fans, idols, and staff, have spoken about how warm and kind of a person Hanbin is, and that feels the same from Kuuga, as a hero who cares for others.

For the styling… Yusuke wears pretty regular clothing that I feel like most men, not only in Japan but most of the world, in the year 2000 wore on a casual basis.

Yusuke’s outfits consist of mostly regular tees (with the kuuga symbol printed on them), flannel button ups, you know typical styling for a guy in a jdrama circa 2000s.

That’s kinda the charm of early Heisei era Rider, they normally just style the main characters like a normal jdrama or more like everyday people. It’s only later in the later Heisei and Reiwa eras that they start to see outfits specially made for those seasons to give more unique charm and flair for that season. (And also so Premium Bandai can sell them for extremely high prices with limited stock.)

I’m confident Hanbin could pull it off.

Jiwoong = Kamen Rider Birth

Ok I think this is a funny one, but hear me out. So, like many on this list, I had a pretty hard time figuring out which rider Jiwoong would fit well with. Jiwoong to me is a very unique person, with a personality that I have not seen yet in a Kamen Rider. But it kinda dawned on me, I can do whatever I want and pick one that feels the closest in nature. Then I thought of Kamen Rider Birth and the user of that suit, Date Akira.

For one, they are both… um... I find them very attractive.

And for two, both are kinda himbos.

I mean of course Jiwoong isn’t completely dumb but like neither is Date. After all he’s a fighting doctor, who served in a war giving aid to soldiers and civilians. Jiwoong is also obviously very in shape, which we do have evidence for. It also helps that both are pretty silly and can be very funny at times.

As far as Date’s clothing goes, he normally wears long sleeve shirts with a bomber jacket, along with jeans and combat boots.

I would say I could picture Jiwoong wearing this but as of the release and promotions of their new comeback and mini album “Cinema Paradise”, I don’t have to.

For one of their concepts for their stage performance, the group wore pretty much what Date wore funnily enough.

And I think he looks honestly perfect for the user of the Birth suit.

Zhang Hao = Kamen Rider Kiva

This was very easy and simple because of one link between the two.

Both Wataru and Zhang Hao can play the violin.

Of course, I could compare the two for more similarities. You could say Hao and Wataru are both introverts, sure, but Wataru at the start of the season is shown to be a shut-in who holed himself up in his house away from the rest of society.

Hao isn’t exactly that introverted, but I guess when it comes down to it, Wataru is totally ok with his shyness aside to transform into Kiva and defeat Fangires. Which I guess you can say is sort of similar to Hao switching to idol mode for performances.

Plus, I think Hao could pull off being Kiva in general. Especially if you went more of a vampiric side of the kiva concept. (At least a little more than what the show did.)

The styling of Wataru is very much just mostly long sleeves and sweaters, with almost every outfit having a scarf adorned around his neck.

I could see Hao wearing this, but I feel it would be out of place for him. Maybe it’s the stylings of the late 'ought's, but Hao tends to dress modern in today’s standards. More of a hoodie and t-shirt in a casual setting and sweaters and long sleeves in colder settings.

Waturu is like Long sleeves and sweaters all year round it seems. But other-wise Zhang Hao would look good in Wataru’s fashion because they’re both very, uh.... twink-ish boys.

Matthew = Kamen Rider Cross-Z

I was at first thinking that maybe this wasn’t a good pick for Matthew because Cross-z’s user Banjou Ryuga is such a specific character with a specific personality that doesn’t match up one to one with Matthew.

In fact that’s kinda the huge problem spot of this whole idea once I sat down and thought about it. If going by personality, most real human people wouldn't match fictional characters with written, predetermined character arcs.

So I started grasping at straws to make it more fun.

Banjou is kind of, well, a huge <3 idiot <3.

To a level that doesn’t fit Matthew. (and most people irl tbh)

That is until, upon the time of writing this, Gunwook did a live in which he claims Matthew said, in his own words, “ Brought a cucumber to the movies to eat, because his mouth would get bored.”(?¿?¿?¿?¿)

It was then that i realized, in a way, he is kinda stupid. (Affectionate)

On top of that being another moment to add to the list of: “Thing ZB1 said, or did that was absolutely insane”, this also felt like something dumb Banjou would say. (Or at least in like a fan made work like a comic or fic or something maybe.)

Also Banjou, in and out of suit, is a fighter with him doing mostly punches and kicks, so it feels right to have a person who fights that way to be the member who has the biggest muscles in the group.

I feel like Matthew could rock Banjou’s looks very well. His wardrobe mostly consists of graphic tees, some jeans and mostly combat boots. Along with that he normally wears one of those lettermen-like jackets with a dragon design on the back, fitting since Cross-z has a dragon themed design motif, as well as the “Ryuga” in Banjo Ryuga has the kanji for the word “dragon” in it.

Also if he’s not wearing his jacket the normal way. He’ll tie it around his waist. Also… he sometimes wears sleeveless shirts as well and uh….

Yeah… Matthew would definitely look good in that.

Taerae = Kamen Rider Sasword

I feel it would be massively funny if Taerae was Sasword. Simply because of Tsurugi.

He’s such an interesting little guy. He’s a rich boy, who wears regal clothing with ruffles and pristine whites. He’s mostly very arrogant and tends to be self-centered, but at the same time, he’s a really silly dude.

Like he tries on multiple occasions to try activities of the “common man” and it's always very funny and weird because he’s SO into it. Plus, he tends to have a little bit of a flamboyant flair to the things he does.

Taerae doesn't really have that truly self centered nature like Tsurugi, but I would like to see him act like him. It feels right.

So… Urmm…uhh... Tsurugi’s outfits are um… as you have seen… very um “fancy.” Like if the picture I showed beforehand doesn’t get it across how his… styling is, here’s some more examples.

Now, as I said before, I don’t think Taerae matches Tsurugi’s personality as much, and just like Tsurugi’s clothing options, they also don’t match.

In fact, a lot of people kinda come to the same conclusion that Taerae's casual fashion can be well...

...interesting...

But in a setting where you let Taerae just be his extra self while also wearing what Tsurugi wears… it’d feel perfect. Like I would love to see that happen.

And that’s really my only reason for him to be Sasword.

(also for him to be the cool scorpion rider as well.)

Ricky = Kamen Rider Kabuto

Ok, yeah obviously if anyone gives Tendou Souji vibes it would be Ricky.

From the face card, to the confidence, and the elegance as well. Ricky feels right for Kabuto.

There’s also the same kinda feeling I get from Ricky as I did with Tendou, where upon first time seeing him you kind of have your first impressions of him. His confidence and sharp looks give the impression of someone who seems a little arrogant and a little too in love with himself. But upon further look, you realize (at least from what he wants to show as an idol) he’s actually a pretty sweet guy. (like I first thought Ricky was a rapper, at first instead of a vocalist with a soft sweet voice.) You know as much as Tendou can be. He just does things his own way, is all.

So yeah….. Ricky is Kabuto.

God imagine Ricky adding Tendou’s famous line to his own.

Young and rich, tall and handsome. I'm the charismatic boss baby, Ricky , the ruler that walks on the road of providence.

…what a mouthful….

Tendou normally wear darker colors, and for the most part neutrals. Which is great, Ricky tends to wear dark colors as well. His style all give an air of confidence that Tendou definitely has in spades, while also not coming off as flashy or too over the top.

But the look I want to see Mr. Shen Quan Rui wear the iconic outfit from ep1 (and also occasionally in the rest of the season.)

Ricky walking down the street with a bowl of tofu, unfazed and unbothered, just feels correct in my eyes.

Gyuvin = Kamen Rider Gatack

So since Ricky is Kabuto, it felt right that the guy who's pretty much the best friend of Tendou, and also the guy who's always with Tendo as the secondary rider of the same season, Gyuvin would be Gatack.

‘cause man, Kagami is just a boy. Just a normal dude. Just a funny little guy.

Gyuvin feels right for Gatack since just like in Kabuto, wherever Kagami went, it felt like Tendou was gonna be there as well (albeit like 10 steps ahead of him, but that’s besides the point.) Gyuvin and Ricky are kinda inseparable. They always feel so close to the hip all the time. So why not pair them up with these two.

Also Ricky messing with Gyuvin definitely feels right at home since Tendou kinda trolls Kagami a lot of the time like…

Like, yeah Ricky may have lost his card one time and got a new one, but to use a Korean card at an American restaurant, with the possibility of it not working…

That look on his face tells me everything. That was planned.

Oh well, whatever princess wants, I don’t know.

Kagami’s style is just…. normal guy style.

Like just clothes you can see a guy wear.

The only other thing you could see him wear is suits, since he is part of ZECT, the military organization that combats the season’s monsters, Worms.

But yeah Gyuvin could wear these and make it more of a boyfriend look.

Now that I think about it, Kagami does rock a casual everyday boyfriend look. Fitting cuz he is already Tendou’s boy--

kagaten gif unrelated...

Gunwook = Kamen Rider Fourze

I really feel like I’m grasping at straws for this one the most. At first, I thought Gunwook would be good for Kamen Rider Knight, but unlike Ren, Gunwook is, um… how can I say this… not a huge edgelord (affectionate). I wanted someone who at first glance was kinda intimidating when you saw them but once you got to know them, they ultimately were just a big softie.

Then, scraping Knight and thinking of someone else, I looked over at my shelf to see my figure rise standard Fourze and was like, “maybe Gentaro????”

‘Cause like yeah. Gentaro is dressed like a typical Japanese delinquent. He got his faux mohawk pompadour and he has an aggressive and outgoing attitude, but instead of being violent and rude, he’s using that attitude to try and make as many friends as he can, and just try to help others.

Like ultimately, just like the trajectory Gunwook had in Boys Planet, (even though people who knew him from Wild Idol well tell you he was always like this) were he was deemed as intimidating and a threat thanks to M-net’s editing.

Until Zhang Hao was in a team with him, and got to get to know him, he would end up stating “Gunwook is very cute and sweet” in a talking head.

Even though I think it would have shown eventually since anybody who knew Gunwook from Wild Idol knew he was a sweetheart. It would have only been a matter of time before viewers would realize that he was a cutie in later cuter concepts for challenges.

Gentaro only has, like two styles, his school “uniform” and his casual look.

For his uniform, he wears the usual bancho getup that’s typical of delinquent types. I would love to see Gunwook dressed like a delinquent. The closest to this I think is his looks in early boy’s planet.

But the casual look for gen is more or less similar to Banjou’s.

But besides that I have another idea on this which is that, surprise!!! Gentaro kinda doesn’t wear the normal school uniform.

As you can see, everyone else in the main cast wears the actual uniform for the school they all attend.

The school uniform is a blue blazer with red trim and comes with gray plaid pants and red plaid skirts. These uniforms are ok, for the most part, but I do feel like the bottoms would fit better with a more solid pattern or color.

I think Gunwook could look good in this as well, but like, it’s a school uniform. Similar to what trainees wear on idol survival shows. I don’t think I want to see Gunwook in a uniform unless it is for a concept.

Also side note, Gentaro’s t-shirts tend to be short. (?) Like if he jumps or stretches, his tummy will show. If Gunwook wore that it would be some people’s nightmare (or dream come true. I don’t judge. It’s not any of my business.)

Yujin = Kamen Rider Wizard

At first, I had a different idea for Yujin. I was originally going to say that he would be Leangle, due to the simple fact that Mutsuki was (in the context of the Rider in Blade) the youngest of the four and was also a teenager.

But as I’m writing this list out, and coming up with new ideas along the way, I’m also watching Kamen Rider Wizard for the first time. And I got to say, for the most part, Haruto kinda gives Yujin vibes for me.

Haruto is very calm and tends to be mostly calm during intense or rowdy moments. Yujin tends to be on the quiet side as his hyungs do the most chaotic antics.

At times when he means to be intentionally or not, Haruto can be very silly and funny, with a more fun and playful side, similar to Yujin (who in my opinion can be probably one of the funniest members in the group.)

And both Haruto and Yujin can be very reliable to get the job done. (Unless it’s like a fun little task in a game on a variety show, Yujin might just mess around if he’s in the mood for mischief.)

Haruto’s clothing is mostly different colored patterned shirts, along with different colored jeans and a nice jacket that he changes up every now and then.

I think Yujin would look pretty cool in this. Not only do I already like this on Haruto, but I really think Yujin would look great in it.

I feel like Yujin’s figure is kinda great for clothes and modeling in general. He could really pull off being a fashion model if he wanted to.

Plus, I want my nephew to look cool.

And that’s the list and thoughts on this pressing matter.

Here’s a lineup of the Jebis as Rider, standing side by side, Danganronpa pose and all.

Honestly looking at this line up this, group of rider look really powerful!! But that kinda feels right. These 9 boys are amazing as a group. Don't cha think?
